The San Francisco Airport is located 14 miles south of San Francisco and has been operational since May 27, 1927. It is primarily situated in San Mateo County near the San Francisco Bay. Formerly known as Mills Field Municipal Airport of San Francisco, it was renamed San Francisco Airport in 1931. Being the seventh busiest airport in the United States, SFO serves more than 130 destinations worldwide, with 55 airlines. Moreover, it is a hub for United and Alaska Airlines’ flights. 

The airport is owned and managed by the City and County of San Francisco. With an annual passenger volume of 51 million, the airport has Taipei, London, Vancouver, and Los Angeles as its top destinations. Delta Airlines, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines are some large airlines flying out via the San Francisco Airport. 

SFO Airport is divided into four terminals with a total of 119 gates: Harvey Milk Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and the International Terminal.
