Emirates operates out of Terminal D at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. It offers direct flights from IAH to its hub in Dubai (DXB). This terminal features five levels to support all functions, including arrivals and departures. Emirates help desks are located here to help with check-in, baggage claim, security check, and boarding the flight. As only international destinations are served, all arriving passengers must proceed to level 1 of Terminal E to complete their customs process. While other amenities are present within the Emirates IAH Terminal, such as walkways on level W and a subway on Level LL.

Emirates exclusively uses Terminal D at IAH Airport. Only flights to and from Dubai run through this international terminal, providing multiple equiments and facilities. 

Levels at Emirates Terminal at IAH Airport

Emirates at IAH Airport utilizes Terminal D for conducting its operations. It has five active levels labelled as Level 1, 2, 3, W, and LL. Each level supports different actions under the continuous presence of the staff. 

1. Level 1: Emirates departures are handled at this level, with the facilities of check-in counters and self-service kiosks. 
2. Level 2: To board the flights to Dubai, move to level 2 as the boarding gates are situated here. 
3. Level 3: It is known as the arrival level. As Emirates only operates international flights, all passengers will proceed to the Customs office in Terminal E before claiming their bags. 
4. Level W: This level features walkways to move around the airport and terminals.
5. Level LL: The “LL” stands for “Lower Level”. This level houses the subway train, which is used to connect all terminals outside of the secure area.

Arrivals and Departures for Emirates at IAH Airport

Arrivals and departures take place through the same terminal, but at different levels. Levels 1, 2, and 3 are used for this purpose at Terminal D of George Bush Intercontinental Airport. 

Arrival Process:

• Disembark the plane and move to Terminal E, level 1.
• Complete the customs process by presenting passports and visas in the CBP office near FIS.
• Move to the baggage claim area on Terminal D, level 3. 
• Collect bags and exit the airport using IAH Ground Transportation. 

Departure Process:

• Complete check-in either from the counters, self-service booths (located at level 1 of Terminal D), or online through the Emirates website. 
• Drop bags and move to the TSA security checkpoints on the same level. 
• Proceed to the departure halls at level 2 for the boarding process. 
• Emirates boarding starts 45 minutes before the scheduled departure for Economy and Premium Economy passengers. 

NOTE: The Emirates check-in counters close 1 hour before takeoff. Hence, arrive at least 2 to 3 hours prior to get ample time for completing the process. 

Terminal D acts as a platform for Emirates to fly its direct flights to Dubai. The operations are managed by three working levels, while the other two levels provide basic amenities. It is beneficial to reach early, especially during peak hours, as rush can increase the security wait times. Additional facilities such as lounges, currency exchange stations, parking, shopping, dining outlets, etc., are available.
