Cathay Pacific Terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

Cathay Pacific’s all flights operate out of Terminal 8 currently. The functions will shift to the newly built Terminal 6 after its construction between 2026 to 2030. It features four levels providing a base space for different operations, such as arrivals, departures, AirTrain Connection, and dedication lounge areas. There is a separate tunnel for international arrivals at the Cathay Pacific JFK terminal. TSA security checkpoints will not allow any passenger to pass through when 40 minutes or less is remaining from the departure time. In addition, they designated the red lot parking specifically for this terminal.

What terminal is Cathay Pacific at JFK Airport?

As of 2025, Cathay Pacific is using JFK Terminal 8 for managing all its operations. All arrivals and departures happen on the same terminal, but at different levels. It has in total of four levels and one tunnel for arrivals outside the United States. 

• Level 1: Arrival level containing baggage claim area and the connecting tunnel, and the customs office for international arrivals. 

• Level 2: This level has the AirTrain service, connecting Cathay Pacific JFK Terminal to other terminals.

• Level 3: The departure level consists of all ticketing counters, TSA security checkpoints, and boarding gates. 

• Level 4: This level has lounges; Cathay Pacific does not have its own dedicated lounge at JFK Airport. Eligible passengers can use the American Airlines Admirals Club in Concourse C, Third floor, opposite gate 42.

• Tunnel: This tunnel serves flights arriving from outside the United States.

Cathay Pacific Arrival Terminal at JFK

Terminal 8 handles all arrivals of Cathay Pacific, whether from domestic or international origins. Domestic flyers will arrive at level 1 and can move straight to the baggage claim area. While people from other places will:

• Arrive in the International tunnel and move to level 1. 
• Complete the immigration process on the Arrivals Level, near the lobby. 
• Generally opens between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and closes between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.
• Collect bags and access the JFK Ground Transportation to exit the airport. 

JFK Cathay Pacific Departure Terminal

Level 3 of Terminal 8 handles all Cathay Pacific departures. The ticketing counters are present near Zone 8, outside security. 

• Conclude Cathay Pacific check-in either through the counter or self-service kiosks within the terminal. The counters open 2 hours before and punctually close 1 hour before departure.
• Proceed to the TSA security checkpoints with a priority lane facility. The estimated JFK wait time is 13 minutes currently. 
• Move to the boarding gates after the security pass. 
• The boarding passes mention the gate numbers, and the screens also display them.
• Security staff will not allow any passenger to board or go through the checkpoint 40 minutes before takeoff.

Cathay Pacific utilizes Terminal 8 at John F. Kennedy International Airport. It handles all flight arrivals and departures through four levels, including domestic and international destinations. However, it will shift to Terminal 6 after its completion, probably from 2026 to 2030. The airlines don’t have any specific lounge at this terminal, but passengers can use the partner lounges.
